If Americans want better governance, we must replace plurality voting—the system that created and sustains our dysfunctional two-party duopoly. Plurality voting lets popular candidates be eliminated in primaries and systematically disadvantages centrists and independents through vote-splitting and the “center squeeze.” The result is deeper polarization and less representative government.
Approval Voting is a simple, fairer alternative. Voters may support every candidate they approve of; the one with the most votes wins. It ends the wasted-vote problem, removes the spoiler effect, and opens the field to serious third parties—advantages Ranked-Choice Voting does not deliver.
